JOHN MENKHAUS, SR.
Executive Vice President – Business Development and Sales
John brings an extensive consulting background in the medical field into the telecom environment. With the core business principles being so similar, John is able to sort through the company’s business opportunities with a slightly different slant, providing input to challenge certain assumptions that may seem logical or obvious to those of us in the business for years, but may not always be the best solution for a client with startup issues, or those with very “green” staff resources who may not understand the many acronyms that we use in the telecom business. John’s continual “on target” assessment of a particular proposal ensures we have captured key issues from the “expert’s” perspective, as well as the client’s point of view. Having worked more than 30 years in this field, he has also seen phenomenal transition as we have had in telecommunications, also due to the significant regulatory changes, forcing many, and in some cases, extreme adjustments to the business models and methods of operation. He has earned an outstanding reputation for his ability to quickly meet and introduce key business opportunities by effectively reading and assessing the clients’ needs and moving quickly to establish commitments.
John’s business background covered almost the entire spectrum of medicine, working for large Fortune 500 manufacturers to smaller, privately held manufacturers and distributors – from pharmaceuticals to cardiology to orthopedics to surgical instruments, including micro-surgery in its infancy. Years ago, John determined that the sale of capital equipment satisfied a long-term goal which coupled the challenge of direct sales with the need for professional marketing and managerial / administrative capabilities. John established his independent sales career in 1985 as a part owner of a medical supply business. In 1988 John established “MRs”, as an independent contract representative, supporting capital equipment sales and consulting, primarily in the fields of Gastroenterology and surgery. He established a leadership position for these companies in terms of sales and participation in the companies’ marketing development activities. Attaining a ranking within top five sales positions, even considering small relative percentage of the national hospital population, has continued to put John in a highly regarded and well-respected tier of the Medical Sales field. With his Primary audience being hospital purchasing departments, teaching university executives, department heads, chiefs of staff, etc. he has dealt with the same levels and sense of urgency as we do in the telecom consulting field.
John pursued an undergraduate curriculum in Business Marketing, coupling those studies with a graduate program in animal surgery at the University of Minnesota along with extensive formal Anatomy and Physiology training throughout his medical career.
